Instructions: Draw 2 circles onto your scrap card (the size depends on how big you want your pom poms to be, ours were about 5 inches diameter). Draw 2 more circles just over half of the size of the first one's. Cut them out carefully. |
Cut a hole in the middle of the circles to form a donut shape. To make it easier we cut in a kind of a six shape and made the hole bigger as we cut. |
Put the circles together in pairs Cut a quite long piece of wool off the ball, or you can use scraps as long as they are long enough to wrap around a few times. Start wrapping the wool through the hole in the middle of the card and around the outside. |
Keep wrapping wool around untill the whole in the middle is almost full. Try not to wrap it too tightly as this will make the next stage very hard! |
Carefully with a pair of scissors poke the point into the outside edge of the circle. Cut a small amount so you can see the card. Cut around the circle with the point of the scissors between the card. |
They should look like this! |
Cut a lenth of wool and tie it around the pom pom, inbetween the two pieces of card. Pull it tight and do a double knot. |
Now you can remove the cardboard circles. Give your pom pom a shake and a quick fluff up and trim off any straggly bits. |
Tie the two pom poms together. We decided to turn these pom poms into a tiger but you can make lots of other things too. |
Using the coloured card, paper of felt decorate your pom poms with eyes, ears, noses or anything else you like. Ok, so it doesn't look like a very fierce tiger, but very cute! |
